WP Ultimate Recipe is already available in multiple languages and uses WordPress standards for its translations, so it’s really easy to customize them.

The language files can be found in the plugin’s /lang/ folder and can be edited with free software like Poedit or plugins like Loco Translate.

Instead of directly editing the language files in the plugin’s /lang/ folder we recommend copying them to the /wp-content/languages/wp-ultimate-recipe/ folder (make sure to keep following the naming structure as well). If present these translations will be used instead of the ones included with the plugin and these files won’t be overwritten when updating the plugin.

Common issue: Translations of custom tags (like ingredients, courses, cuisines) are NOT handled by the translation files. These can be translated on the Recipe > Settings > Recipe Tags page by clicking on the “Manage Custom Tags” button.
